Soils located in the foothills of the Orthus cliff face, the North face of the Pic Saint Loup and the alluvial fan in Corconne.
This type of soil is produced by:
·Frost shattering during ice ages on the surface of the limestone plateaux. These limestone components were then swept away and spread out by rivers when the ice melted.
·Limestone fragments falling to the foot of the rock faces.
It is a consistent, deep and not very compact type of soil. It is porous and free-draining which provides vines with a regular supply of water throughout the growth cycle.
